Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — A vibrant exchange of ideas, innovation, and academic excellence took center stage at the 24th Joint Multidisciplinary Research Conference (24JMRC) held from 25 to 27 July 2025. Organized by the Singapore Institute of Multidisciplinary Professions and Ascendens Asia International Research Institute (AAIRI), this three-day academic gathering united researchers, educators, and industry professionals across Southeast Asia under the theme, “Innovate for Tomorrow: Charting the Future Through Research.”

Opening Plenary and Keynote Sessions

The conference commenced with an energizing Welcome Address from FDr. Dr. Glenn S. Cabacang, President of SIMP and Ascendens Asia Group.

Instrumental in setting the intellectual tone of the event, FDr. Dr. Athena Georgene Uy Ang, Director of the Singapore Institute of Multidisciplinary Professions, served as the key moderator and introducer of keynote speakers. Her presence ensured the conference flowed with structure, engagement, and high-level insight. Dr. Georgene skillfully guided attendees through a series of rich discussions, bridging each session with thoughtful context that highlighted the relevance of each keynote in today’s evolving research landscape.

These scholars exemplified the 24JMRC’s mission: to drive innovation for tomorrow by addressing today’s most pressing academic and societal challenges.

A Celebration of Global Collaboration and Growth

The conference concluded with open discussions, an inspiring AAIRI Member Induction Ceremony, and the Certificate Awards for all speakers and presenters. Mr. Joenel L. Carlos, Vice President for Operations and Systems Services of Ascendens Asia Group, delivered closing remarks, urging researchers to continue embracing collaboration, diversity, and excellence in their academic pursuits. Dr. Georgene also remained a visible presence throughout the event — not only introducing keynotes but also serving as an anchor of engagement, ensuring both new and seasoned researchers felt welcomed into the AAIRI community.
