Exploring Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Multidisciplinary Social and Ethical Research

The 7th SIMP – AAIRI – BCP Multidisciplinary Research Festival (7MRF) culminated in a thrilling Championship Presentation on May 25, 2024, at Bestlink College of the Philippines (BCP), Quezon City. This event brought together top-tier research minds from Senior High School and College levels, showcasing their innovative research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on various disciplines.
Distinguished Guests and Speakers
The championship round featured esteemed academic and industry leaders who provided valuable insights and inspiration. The event commenced with Welcome Remarks from Dr. Glenn S. Cabacang, CBMEx™, President of the Singapore Institute of Multidisciplinary Professions Pte Ltd and President & CEO of Ascendens Asia Group. He was followed by FDr. Dr. Maria M. Vicente, HFRI, DFRIEdr, DFRIEntr, DFRIM, President & CEO of Bestlink College of the Philippines, who delivered the Opening Remarks.
Dr. Joy Evelyn A. Ignacio, Center for Research and Development Head at Bestlink College of the Philippines, introduced the plenary speaker, FDr. Dr. Athena Georgene Uy Ang, CBMEx™, Immediate Past Chairperson of the Singapore Professional Centre and Director of the Singapore Institute of Multidisciplinary Professions Pte Ltd. She delivered an insightful talk on “Bridging the Digital Divide: Artificial Intelligence (AI)’s Transformative Role in Education.” The 7MRF Championship Round and prize awarding were facilitated by Danika Christyn Astilla-Magoncia, MPA, Vice President for Research Education & Advocacy at Ascendens Asia International Research Institute.
Championship Judges Panel
A distinguished panel of judges, composed of experts across various disciplines, evaluated the finalists. The panel included Dr. Michael Angelo C. Alejandro, Doctor in Business Administration, Certified Human Resource Professional, Talent Planning & Operations Manager at Accenture, and Professorial Lecturer at National University & De La Salle University – St. Benilde Graduate Studies. Dr. Jayvie O. Guballo, Doctor in Business Administration, MAHERNO Research Conference Grantee, Certified Human Resource Professional, and University Instructor at Rizal Technological University, also contributed his expertise to the panel.

Adding to the distinguished panel were Dr. Michael Bhobet B. Baluyot, Doctor of Hospitality Management, 2021 Global Leaders & Educators Awardee, Dean of College of Liberal Arts at Technological University of the Philippines, NCR Auditor at the Philippine Association of Researchers for Tourism & Hospitality, and Restaurant Business Operations Consultant at Southern Grind Bistro Restaurant. Dr. Cayetano A. Nicolas, Doctor of Information Technology and Doctor of Education, currently serving as Dean of the College of Computer Studies at City of Malabon University, brought his expertise in IT and education to the judging panel. Dr. Ma. Luz P. Bacani-Dasmariñas, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Business Administration, Licensed Customs Broker, and School Principal at St. Catherine College of Valenzuela, Inc., completed the panel with her extensive experience in business and education.
7MRF CHAMPIONS
The championship round showcased remarkable research projects that stood out among their peers. In the Senior High School category, the winning research was “Stimulating Teenage Enterprise: Offering an Alternative Therapeutic Fragrance Oil Infused with Coffee”, authored by Prey Arsenia V. Carolino, Precious Nicole D. Junio, Jean Margarette G. Lorenzo, Christopher P. Pimentel, and Rainer V. Talle, under the mentorship of Christine D. Calvofrom the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand. Their outstanding work earned them a Gold Medal, Certificate, and Cash Prize.

For the College Category, the winning research was “The Development of Vital Signs Monitoring System with Data Output Interface using Arduino Mega”, authored by Joyce Ann D. Alegre, Christine Joyce Castillo, James Samuel Q. Ferrer, Paula Mae P. Lagarnia, and Rommel A. Nepomuceno, with guidance from Engr. Reynante B. Ponay. The research, representing the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCPE) program, secured a Trip to Thailand as International Research Conference delegates, a Gold Medal, and Certificates.

Closing the Festival
The 7th SIMP – AAIRI – BCP Multidisciplinary Research Festival concluded with heartfelt Closing Remarks by Ms. Edith M. Vicente, Executive Vice President of Bestlink College of the Philippines. The event successfully celebrated research excellence and innovation, fostering a platform for young researchers to contribute meaningful insights to their respective fields.
